Amanda Judson, O.D., M.S., FCOVD is a developmental optometrist who specializes in Pediatrics, Vision Therapy, and visually related learning problems. Dr. Judson is Board Certified in Vision Therapy by the prestigious College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). She is the Director of Pediatric Eye Care, Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy at Vision Learning Centers in Terre Haute, IN. Dr. Judson is active in her pursuits of lecturing and publishing in professional literature. She frequently lectures around the United States to general and developmental optometrists on vision therapy, therapeutic lens prescribing, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. Her passion is identifying and treating vision problems that are often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. It is a joy when she is able to see her patients thrive in areas that previously caused struggles.
Dr. Judson has extensive experience and expertise in the care of pediatric and adult patients with special emphasis on binocular vision problems, visual perceptual dysfunction, traumatic brain injury, and developmental issues. She has treated a large number of patients with Vision Therapy/Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation/Habilitation in order to address these issues. Dr. Judson works closely with other professionals including other optometrists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, reading and education specialists, psychologists, and medical physicians to provide an integrated diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
After earning her Bachelor degree from DePauw University, Dr. Judson received her Master of Science degree in biology from Purdue University. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry where she completed a specialty rotation in vision therapy. After receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Judson began a Family Practice residency program near Tulsa, Oklahoma at Northeastern State University College of Optometry where she specialized in pediatrics and vision therapy.
Dr. Judson was born and raised in Terre Haute and now resides there with her husband and five children. She enjoys volunteering her time helping in her children's classrooms and is also an active member at Maryland Community Church. She also enjoys spending a great deal of time at the baseball fields with her baseball players and gym with her gymnasts. Dr. Judson also enjoys bow hunting, duck hunting, and clay shooting as well as reading, gardening, and cross-stitch. Dr. Judson works hard to maintain a balance between her personal and professional pursuits.
Dr. Judson is a member of various optometric and vision therapy related organizations, such as College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Parents Active for Vision Education, the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Indiana Optometric Association. In addition, she is one of the twelve founding members of the Vision Leads Foundation and serves on its board of directors.
